'Jock and Dandie'

'Jock and Dandie'

A carte-de-visite portrait of two Dandie Dinmont Terriers sitting up and begging. The dogs are identified as ‘Jock and Dandie’ printed recto in the lower margin. The fact that the identification is printed rather than hand-written suggests that the dogs enjoyed some celebrity. This is confirmed by a search on the Internet, which produces various matches, including one giving the information that the two dogs were sired by Dr. Brown's ' John Pym,' a son of Somner's ' Shem ' out of N. Milne's 'Jenny’.
