Mlle Delval

A carte-de-visite portrait of a performer identified as Mlle Delval. According to a pencilled inscription verso in a period hand, she is seen here in a production entitled La Biche au bois [The Doe in the Woods].

According to John Culme's always excellent Footlight Notes, Mlle Delval's full name when not employed at the theatre was Léontine Herma (or Irma) Philomène Goret and her dates are 11 April 1837 - 24 May 1919. In 1881 she married Èmile Tanneguy de Wogan (1850-1906) but their marriage ended in divorce sometime before October 1888.
