Belgian woman with milk jug

A carte-de-visite portrait of a Belgian woman carrying a large jug - probably of copper - on her shoulder. The photograph would have been produced in Antwerp or thereabouts for the tourist market and for armchair travellers.

A pencilled inscription verso in a period hand reads: ‘Antwerp.'
