Born Caroline Elizabeth Mary Haigh in Islington [London] on 1 October 1848, she married James Clark Frecker in Bexley Heath on 20 April 1870. She lived the remaining 52 years of her life in Brussels.
She and my great-grandfather were divorced at some point. In 1894 she was married again, this time to a Belgian master tailor by the name of François Constant Veyt. Judging by her surviving letters, her second marriage was not a success either.
