Charles Heneage was born on 4 December 1841, the son of George Fieschi Heneage and Frances née Tasburgh. He became a diplomat and was stationed in Nice, Washington, Stockholm and Athens. He later became a journalist. In 1876 in Berlin he married Agnes Leclercq. Born Agnes Elizabeth Joy in Swanton, Vermont, she was the widow of Prince Felix Salm-Salm.
Charles Heneage died on 16 September 1901, at the age of 59.
