Ships at Marseilles

A topographical carte-de-visite showing ships docked in the harbour at Marseille in southern France, with the masts of the many ships receding into the distance.

An inked inscription verso in a period hand reads: ‘Pont tournant et Port à Marseille / 17-20 October 1863.’ Various other dates in 1864, 1865 and 1866 have been added later, presumably the dates at which the original owner of the carte visited the port.
