'Good Night'

Over a period of many years, the Birmingham photographer Michael Burr produced an enormous series of comic images. The majority of these were published as stereoviews and also in the popular carte-de-visite format. This one, titled 'Good Night' in the lower margin, borders on the risqué but Burr's subject matter, though eclectic, rarely strayed far from the straight and narrow. Nevertheless, his comic scenes have an originality which I find refreshing and entirely charming.
