A carte-de-visite portrait of an Irish girl who frequented the Gap of Dunloe, a popular tourist spot in County Kerry, selling poteen and copies of her portrait. A caption references Dion Boucicault's hugely popular drama The Colleen Bawn and its central protagonist, Eily O'Connor.
The mount carries various inscriptions. One recto in the lower margin reads: 'With mountain dew in hand.' Another verso gives the location and date, 4 August 1876. A longer inscription verso reads: 'Such women follow parties through [the] Gap of Dunloe soliciting a penny and that you will taste their mountain dew.'
