A carte-de-visite portrait of a bride and her two bridesmaids. A pencilled inscription verso in a period hand identifies the sitters as 'Anne, Edith, [and] Marian.' Evidence elsewhere in the album indicates that the bride is Edith Hoole of Sheffield, who married Arthur Wightman on 21 September 1872.
At the time of the 1911 census, the couple were living at Hallam Gate in Sheffield with two adult sons, four servants (all female) and a 'surgical nurse.' The marriage had produced a third child but he or she was no longer alive. For his profession, Arthur gave 'Solicitor & Notary Public.'
Edith Wightman died, aged 93, on 27 July 1943 at 8 Beech Hill Road, Sheffield. She left an estate valued at £74,698.
Photographed by the bride's cousin, Charles Hoole of Sheffield.
