Born in Brussels on 3 July 1871, Caroline Ellen Frecker was the only daughter of James Clark Frecker, a continental traveller for the British firm of woollen merchants Holland & Sherry of London.
She entered a convent of Ursuline nuns at Tildonk on 15 July 1892. Following her novitiate, she made her profession on 21 November 1894, taking the name Mère Imèlde du Coeur Eucharistique de Jésus. She died at the convent on 8 December 1938.
