Prince Alfred

A carte-de-visite portrait of Prince Alfred, later Duke of Edinburgh, seen here dressed for a day’s hunting. A pencilled inscription verso in a period hand reads: ‘Not to be published’ so presumably the portraits from this sitting were for Prince Alfred’s own, personal use and not for mass production or public consumption.
