Princess Alexandra and Princess Dagmar

A carte-de-visite portrait of Princess Alexandra with her sister Dagmar, wife of the Russian Tsesarevich. Born a Danish princess, on her marriage to the Russian heir in 1866 Dagmar converted to Russian Orthodoxy and took the Russian name Marie Feodorovna. When her husband succeeded as Emperor Alexander III in 1881, she became Empress Marie Feodorovna of Russia.
