Princess Charlotte of Prussia

A carte-de-visite portrait of Princess Charlotte of Prussia (1860-1919), the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Friedrich (later Friedrich III) and Crown Princess Victoria (‘Vicky’). In 1876 she married Bernard of Saxe-Meiningen (later Duke Bernard III of Saxe-Meiningen).

The void on the left is not a curtain. The photographer has crudely painted out whoever was holding the baby - probably a nurse - on the original negative.
