Reverend William Chandos-Pole was the son of Edward Sacheverell Chandos-Pole. He was born in 1833 at Radbourne, Derbyshire. He appears on the 1861 census at the house of his parents, The Hall, Radbourne. He gave his profession as "Rector of Trusley." At the time of the census, he was unmarried.
Ten years later, he was a widower, according to the 1871 census, living at the Rectory, Radbourne, with his four-year-old daughter, Margaret, and his three-year-old son, Christopher. He gave his profession as "Rector of Radbourne." Also present on the night of the census, besides his seven servants, were his brother, Edward Sacheverell Chandos-Pole, and his nephew, Reginald Chandos-Pole.
