Photographed by Thomas Edge of Preston and Llandudno.
During the 1860s Thomas Edge of Preston and Llandudno produced a series of portraits of Lancashire lasses. Essentially bucolic fantasies, these were intended primarily for the tourist market. Born the son of a farmer in 1820, Edge's love of the land and his respect for the people who worked it imbued these sensitive studies with a nostalgia for a vanishing world.
