The Vendôme Column

The Vendôme Column

One half of a stereoview showing the Vendôme Column in Paris.

Erected by the first Napoleon to celebrate the victory of Austerlitz, the original column was modelled after Trajan's Column. Its veneer of 425 spiraling bas-relief bronze plates were made out of cannon taken from the combined armies of Europe.

Photographer unidentified.
