Under a beech tree


A pencilled inscription verso in a period hand reads: 'Stewart, Edith, Jessie, Rose and Evelyn under large beech tree near Mostyn House'.

These are the children of Henry and Mary Harrison. At the time of the 1871 census, Rose was 29, Jessie was 28, Edith was 25 and Evleyn was 13. The family were living at Mostyn House, Mersey Road, Garston. Mrs Harrison had 5 servants, all female, to help run her household. Mr Harrison gave 'Living on own means' for his profession.
