A cabinet card portrait of middle-aged man sporting a fine moustache.
An extensive inscription verso presumably in the sitter's hand reads:
'New York, 21st Jan / 1882
'Do not show, dear Mrs Darrin, this portrait to your husband! He was my friend some years ago, and we are now as the vinegar and the oil! Why? I do no know! I am not conceated [sic] enough to think he is jealous of me! I am growing old and thought you had and have a better taste! Let him alone and be always my friend.'
The sitter has then signed his dedication 'Domingo Guiral.'
Photographed by Jose Maria Mora of New York.
