Alexandre Dumas, fils

A carte-de-visite portrait of the French author Alexandre Dumas (1824-1895), known as fils to distinguish him from his father of the same name.

Dumas fils was the illegitimate son of Dumas père and the author of the play La Dame aux Camélias [The Lady of the Camellias] (1852), based on his own novel and the source of Verdi’s opera La Traviata.
