Canon Pavy and an Arab orphan

A carte-de-visite portrait of a Roman Catholic clergyman and a small Arab boy.

An inked inscription verso in a period hand reads: 'M. le Chanoine Pavy et le jeune orphelin arabe' [English: 'Canon Pavy and the young Arab orphan'].

Another inscription further down, in the same hand, gives the date, 1869.
