Fred Gordon, 1867

An inked inscription verso identifies the sitter and gives the date.

Given the context of the album which this came from, the boy seen here is probably the Honourable Frederick Gordon, son of Edward Strathearn Gordon, Baron Gordon of Drumearn (1814-1879).

Born on 9 October 1861, the Honourable Frederick Gordon was later Major-General the Honourable Sir Frederick Gordon, KCB, DSO, a senior British Army officer who at the end of the First World War additionally served as a major general in the newly created Royal Air Force. He died on 18 October 1927.
