Maud Middleton

Various sources attest that Maud Middleton was a courtesan rather than an actress. A number of London's soiled doves visited Elliott and Fry during the late 1860s and 1870s; so many, in fact, that it seems that this most respectable of studios produced a series of portraits of celebrated courtesans.
