The grave of Sarah Finch (née Barker), who died at Croydon on 7 August 1876, aged 97. Born in or about 1779, she was the widow of Edward Hicks Finch, who died in the district of Wincanton in Somerset in 1854. The couple appear on the 1851 census living at 39 New Park Road, Clapham. Mr Finch was a 'Spanish wine merchant'. Mrs Finch was born in Lambeth. Also present on the night of the census were twp sons, Charles Edward Finch and Arthur Finch, a daughter called Louisa, and two servants, both female.
Photographer unidentified. A small printed label pasted to the reverse of the photograph advertises the monumental mason, Charles Thomas of Lewisham, whose name also appears towards the bottom of the headstone.
